CREATING COMMUNITY

I Am Zambia’s motto is “We are brave. We are bold. We are cycle breakers”.  IAZ focuses on breaking the cycle of poverty for vulnerable girls through education and vocational experience. They provide education in three specific areas: entrepreneurship, computer skills, and English.  They also offer vocational skills through small business internship opportunities. In Zambia, over 30% of young women do not progress beyond elementary school because of illness, teen pregnancy, or lack of funding. IAZ fights these barriers by teaching girls their self-worth, giving them the knowledge needed to graduate secondary school, and providing them with critical financial support.   

Our founder, Carrie Brinton, currently serves as a board member for IAZ and visits the Zambia girls’ school multiple times each year. Carrie provides business expertise to help the organization operate smoothly and works personally with the girls, teaching in the classrooms and training them in the internship programs.
